Wedding planing takes an enormous about of time and attention. It can require hundreds of decision big and small and with that, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. To help you avoid these problems here is a list of the the top 10 most common mistakes that brides make while planing their special day.
1. Doing anything before your guest list
There is so many exciting things a bride has to look forward too when planing a wedding, the cake tasting, the registry, and of course the dress shopping. These are all important elements but it is extremely important to first create your guest list. The guest list determines so many important factors of a wedding, the food, the venue, and the budget.
2. Over whelming your partner
The are so many decisions that have to be made and an overwhelming time that needs to be set apart for preparing and planing a wedding. It can get chaotic and exhausting. It will be easy to get moody. There is no need to drag anyone into something they truly don't care about or get upset and start a fight over over flowers. Keep in mind why you are doing it in the first place. It should be fun and exciting!
3. Not considering the weather
Rain is a game changer. Make sure that you check the wether if your wedding is going to be an out door event. Not planing for bad weather can be a very expensive result. Plan your budget for tents, umbrellas, or anything else that might help you prepare for the bad weather. Don't let it rain on your parade.
4. Assuming 10% of your guest will RSVP "no"
5. Skipping on a videographer
I know it might sound temping when trying to cut cost but I promise you nothing compares to being able to relive your wedding day in real time. Your wedding day is over in a blink of an eye and yes you have pictures but there is something so special about watching those candid, sweet, unrehearsed moments. Those are the details that make the pictures and solidify the memory.
6. Crash dieting
Attention, do not fall victim to crash dieting, it does not work. I know we all wish they did but they don't. The dress should fit you not the other way around. Make a commitment to eating healthy and exercising and make alterations if needed. Weight loss is a marathon not a race.
7. Hiring your friend instead of a pro
You are not doing anyone a favor by hiring your friends. I know they said they could dj or play photographer but it is a risk you should not be willing to take. People working weddings are usually under intense pressure and high stress. If something goes wrong it is easier to be straight forward as a client to a professional rather than trying to avoid conflict with a fiend. Plus you want your friends to be right there enjoying the wedding with you not worrying about getting pictures of everyone at the party.
8. Having a large gap between the ceremony and your reception
Neither you, your new husband, or your wedding party wants to be waiting around all day for the reception. You just got married, you probably don't even want to have a reception, you're probably just dying to get on your honey moon so you can have your new hubby all to your self. Make sure you plan your time appropriately.
9. Blowing your budget
Budgeting can be a nightmare no matter how much planing and research you do. Always try to put a little extra of your budget to the side for underestimates and emergencies. In case that you do underestimate your expenses don't panic. Take a deep breath, sit down with your partner and discus alternatives, items you can trade, and things you can live without.
10. Forgetting to have fun
If things don't go wrong when planing a wedding is it even a wedding? Don't sweat the small stuff. So often couples get so caught up in the minor details of everything that goes into a wedding that they forget they are marrying the love of their lives! It is a celebration all about the eternal love you have for each other. Make sure you enjoy it and make the best of every moment.
